Friday Night Lights Are Back: 302 Games Kick Off Week 1 With Goodrich-Frankenmuth Under the Big House Roof!

It's back, and it comes in a flood — 184 games tonight, 112 on Friday, six Saturday, our high school teams pouring back onto the fields with roughly 33,000 players suiting up across the state in the most-played sport we've got. This is the weekend Michigan waits all summer for. The headliner: Goodrich versus Frankenmuth at Michigan Stadium on Thursday, the Battle at the Big House and their second meeting there in four years. Goodrich won last year's matchup 17-14, but Frankenmuth holds a 3-2 edge in the recent series — and both programs bring serious pedigree, Frankenmuth with six straight double-digit-win seasons and Goodrich with four. We've got two rematches of 2025 Finals too. Dearborn Divine Child hosts Hudsonville Unity Christian after that 23-22 Division 4 thriller, and Blanchard Montabella travels to Martin, who downed them 52-8 in last year's Division 1 8-player Final. Up at Kingsford, Escanaba looks to build on a 21-18 opener that snapped a losing streak dating to 2019.
