Comerica Park No More: Downtown Ballpark Becomes Fifth Third Park in 2027

Well, folks, the place we've called Comerica Park for more than 25 years is getting a new name. The Detroit Tigers and Fifth Third Bank announced at a Monday press conference that the ballpark will become Fifth Third Park, the first name change in the stadium's history — expected to take effect for the 2027 season. Here's the why: the name change comes after Fifth Third acquired Comerica Bank, a $10.9 billion deal announced in 2025 and completed earlier this year. Comerica's name had been attached to the ballpark since it opened in 2000, replacing old Tiger Stadium, and the naming-rights deal had previously been extended clear through 2034. Times change. If the new name sounds familiar, it should: our own Toledo Mud Hens, the Tigers' Triple-A affiliate, already play at Fifth Third Field in Toledo. So the brand runs right through the organization now, top to bottom. The new name is expected to be in place by Opening Day 2027.
