Well, that one stung. The Lions traveled to Orchard Park on a short week and ran headfirst into a Buffalo buzzsaw, falling 41-31 to the Bills at the brand-new Highmark Stadium on Thursday night. It's the kind of start that puts a knot in your stomach. The damage came early and fast: Josh Allen and the Bills scored touchdowns on each of their first three possessions and built a 21-0 lead early into the second quarter. Digging out of a hole that deep on a short week is a tall order for anybody, and by the time it was said and done Dan Campbell's group had climbed to 31 but couldn't close the gap. There were bright spots worth holding onto — Aidan Hutchinson got home for a sack of Allen, a reminder that the fight never left this defense. But the scoreboard is the scoreboard, and it drops us to 1-1 heading into Week 3. We've seen this group get off the mat before, and we'll see it again.
