Lions Turn Up the Drama at Camp Day 18 as Goff and the Offense Trade Blows With the Defense!

Day 18 down in Allen Park gave us exactly the kind of back-and-forth we live for, as the Lions backed down the intensity and length after going hard Tuesday, yet still packed an hour of practice with situational football that had both sides trading haymakers. The offense went to work in the team periods, and Jared Goff wasted no time — a nine-yard Jahmyr Gibbs run got things moving, then Goff dropped a touchdown deep down the middle to Jameson Williams. Later, on a 4th & 2 from the 32, our All-Pro Amon-Ra St. Brown split out wide left, shook loose from D.J. Reed, and hauled in a 32-yard score. But the defense got the last word: down 24-20 with 41 seconds and two timeouts, the offense marched to the 29 before back-to-back false starts buried them in a 4th & 13, and rookie DB Aamaris Brown made the tackle around the five that won the drill. Dan Campbell gave Brown the credit. An inter-squad scrimmage caps camp Thursday, the preseason finale is Saturday, and Sunday brings the trim to 53.
