Pistons Lock Up Ausar Thompson on 5-Year, $155M Extension!

The deal is done and it's the one we wanted: Ausar Thompson has agreed to a five-year, $155 million rookie-scale extension with our Pistons, fully guaranteed. Trajan Langdon isn't letting this one walk. At 23 years old, coming off a first-team All-Defense season and a third-place finish in Defensive Player of the Year voting, Ausar is exactly the kind of building block a franchise plants its flag on. The numbers tell the story. He led the entire NBA in steals per game at 2.0, posted 9.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists a night, and became one of only three players with at least 300 steals and 150 blocks since entering the league. In our playoff run to the Eastern Conference semifinals he gave us 8.2 points, 7.9 boards, 2 steals and 1.8 blocks a game over 14 contests. And there's history in the ink: twins Ausar and Amen Thompson are the first pair of brothers in NBA history to each land a $100 million deal, signing for a combined $363 million this offseason. Remember, this is the same young man cleared by the fitness-to-play panel eight months after a 2024 blood clot diagnosis. What a comeback.
