Skubal Silences His Old Comerica Crowd as Dodgers Edge Tigers 2-1

So this is what heartbreak looks like: Tarik Skubal walks back into Comerica Park in a Dodgers uniform, and our Tigers can't solve him. The two-time Cy Young winner threw six solid innings against the club that drafted him, allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts, and Los Angeles walked out with a 2-1 win in front of 41,012. The 29-year-old, dealt for prospects earlier this month, got mostly cheers with a smattering of boos — and he answered by retiring 12 straight after a leadoff double from Gleyber Torres. We fought back, though. Max Clark's two-out triple in the fifth broke the scoreless tie, and Miguel Rojas knotted it with an RBI single. Then Freddie Freeman's two-out single in the seventh scored Teoscar Hernandez, and that was the ballgame. At 62-72 and sitting 9 back in the AL Central, we needed this one. Instead the Dodgers grab a 1-0 series lead, with Blake Snell facing our Keider Montero on Saturday. Watching Skubal do that to us stung.
