Tigers Snap the Skid, Get By the Rays 4-1 at Comerica!

Finally, the losing stops. The Tigers ended a six-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays in front of 26,605 at Comerica Park, and after dropping nine of their last 10, that felt like a breath of fresh air in downtown Detroit. The kid stepped up in a big way. Max Clark launched the second homer of his career — his first ever at Comerica Park — to give us a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, and Detroit tacked on three that frame after Ian Seymour balked and Jonathan Aranda misplayed a Kevin McGonigle grounder. Javier Báez tripled and scored on Hao-Yu Lee's single in the seventh to make it four. The arms were the story too. Jackson Jobe allowed one run in 4 1/3, and four relievers combined for a single hit — Drew Sommers retired all five he faced for his first big-league win, and Kenley Jansen slammed the door in the ninth for save number 17. Series is knotted 1-1 with the rubber match up next.
