Torkelson Goes Yard in the 12th as Tigers Storm Back to Snap a Skid, 11-6!

After Monday's 11-1 beating and Tuesday's 15-2 embarrassment, our battling Tigers finally got off the mat at Target Field, and it was Spencer Torkelson who delivered the knockout blow — a two-run shot into the left-field seats in the 12th, his 21st of the year and his first since July 29. He lined the second pitch he saw from Tommy Nance and never looked back. Javier Báez followed with a bases-clearing double and Max Clark chipped in an RBI double in the 11th, but the story of the night was rookie John Peck, called up Monday from Triple-A Toledo, who notched the first two hits of his career and drove in three. Kyle Finnegan tossed the final two frames for the win. This was Detroit scoring more than two runs for the first time in seven games — about time. At 64-75 the Tigers won for just the second time in that seven-game stretch, and now we head to Cleveland Friday for a four-game series that opens with a day-night doubleheader.
