Well, we got another win in the books, and it came the way this young Michigan team keeps finding them — the hard way early, the easy way late. We spotted UTEP a 14-7 lead midway through the second quarter, coughed up two early turnovers, and had our fans holding their breath. Then we scored twice before halftime and overwhelmed the Miners 35-3 after the break, pulling away to a 52-17 final on Saturday. That makes three straight to open the Kyle Whittingham era, and the No. 18 Wolverines are figuring it out on the fly with the youngest average age in the Big Ten. Bryce Underwood obviously played his best game of the season, and Whittingham himself called it our most productive offensive performance yet. Junior Jordan Marshall is battling a nagging injury but is expected to keep playing through it. Now the real test lands. We open Big Ten play Saturday hosting No. 17 Iowa, a defense leading all of the FBS in both fewest points allowed at 4.3 per game and fewest yards at 176.7 per game. Those three poor halves? They have to disappear against this bunch.
