Michigan High School sports

This section we will cover the local Michigan High School teams as they play during their school seasons every Fall, Winter and Spring!  We will highlight games and teams who are having successful seasons.  We will also keep up with Team Rankings with our Top teams! to get out and watch!!

 Outstate teams are where top teams
reign from this season so far!

Well here we are Jan. 12 and in the rankings to date the power seems to reside particularly Outstate!  East Lansing, Rockford, Muskegon, Grand Rapids area all sit atop or near the top in the early rankings.  East Lansing (11-0) just went to OT on Jan. 10 to defeat Rockford (9-2) 80-71 in a neutral site game.

Each and every Tuesday or Friday night you are bound to find a great contest across the state with some of the best talent on the floor! 

Results from Some big games last Friday Jan. 16 are:

at Brighton (10-2)  defeated Salem (9-3)  71 - 57

at Det. Cath. Central (7-4) defeated OL St. Mary's (5-6)  53 - 50

at Hartland  (11-1) defeated Canton (8-3)  57- 47

Rockford  (10-2) defeated at Hudsonville (10-2)   68 -52

Saginaw Heritage (11-3)  defeated at Mt. Pleasant (10-2)  62 - 42

 at Clarkston (10-3) defeated North Farmington (7-5)  65 - 55

With the boys having about a month and a half left in regular season play before the State Tourney we will see changes!

Rockford sits atop the D1 rankings again;
Grand Rapids teams take top 3 in D2

The Girls Basketball season is well under way and as of the most recent Rankings Jan. 12 we have a familiar face on top D1 as Rockford holds strong! 

There are 3 teams from Grand Rapids holding down the top spots in D2.  Outstate teams dominate the D3 and D4 rankings with Niles Brandywine, New Lothrop, Morenci, Concord all holding top 2 spots in both divisions!  

Results from Some top games (Jan. 16) are:

Belleville (9-0) Defeated at Wayne Memorial (8-1)  77 - 49

Midland (7-3) defeated at Midland Dow (4-5)   48 - 32

Northville (8-3) defeated at Plymouth (8-3)    45 - 41

 at Saginaw Heritage defeated (8-2) Mt. Pleasant (7-1)   62 - 23

at Wixom St. Catherine (6-4) defeated Allen Park Cabrini (8-1)  62 - 42

Spring Lake (7-2) defeated at Zeeland West (7-2)   40 - 37

These are just a few of the games you will see each weeknight until Districts start the first week of March!

Howell, Flint Powers Catholic and Cranbrook sit atop the 3 divisions!

We are less than a month away from Regionals in the Hockey State tourney and teams are lining themselves up for the big dance!  Familiar teams still dot the rankings but who will prevail when the final horn sounds in March!?

Team Districts Feb. 11-12; team Regionals Feb. 18 and Individual Finals March 6-7 at Ford Field!

The States best teams and best Wrestlers have been busy so far this winter mastering their craft and working to move up the rankings both team and individual wise!

Detroit Catholic Central, Lowell, Dundee and Hudson all sit atop the 4 divisions so far this season!  Familiar teams for sure in the Wrestling circuit.  Other strong teams this early part of the season are Davison, Brighton, Three Rivers, Algonac in the top 2 Divisions.

In Division 3 and 4 you will see Yale, Allegan, Manchester and St. Louis all looking to get into the top spot by seasons end.
